UNDERSTANDING PEER SUPPORT
Peer Support program aims to empower individuals experiencing mental illness and/or substance use disorders by fostering an environment that supports recovery, self-determination, self-advocacy, well-being, and independence. This community-based service is designed to create a supportive network that encourages participants to take active roles in their recovery journeys.
Activities: The program includes a wide range of activities tailored to the unique needs and goals of each participant. These activities may include:

One-on-one peer support sessions, where individuals can share their experiences and challenges in a safe and supportive environment.

Connection to group support meetings that provide opportunities for participants to connect with others who have similar experiences, fostering a sense of community and mutual support.

Support with topics such as coping strategies, wellness planning, goal setting, and relapse prevention, are designed to equip participants with the skills they need to navigate their recovery.

Assistance with accessing community resources and services, including housing, education, employment, and healthcare, to support a holistic approach to recovery and wellness.

Advocacy and self-advocacy, empowering participants to effectively communicate their needs and preferences to healthcare providers and other stakeholders.
