Roads to Recovery

What We Offer

ABW dedicates itself to increasing Northern Ohio’s efforts to improve the accessibility and effectiveness of treatment/housing and recovery supports for adults who have an opiate use, alcohol use or stimulant use disorder. Through these efforts ABW facilitates sustained recovery in adults currently receiving treatment for opiate, stimulant and alcohol use disorder. To do this we utilize the social model of recovery where experience in recovery is valued. As residents in treatment and sober living facilities undergo their recovery they develop into leaders. We encourage residents to see themselves as examples for those who are newer to recovery and understand the importance of modeling positive recovery behaviors for others.

ABW provides access and connections to a variety of different sober living and recovery facilities. It is important for us however, to be aware that our support of a social model as a primary strategy of recovery is not universally applicable. Every individuals path to recovery is unique and many of those in the recovery community suffer from a variety of co-occurring disorders. As a result of this ABW provides linkages to clinical and therapeutic support such as mental health and behavioral health counseling. Furthermore ABW has connections to programs and facilities that offer Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) in order to ensure that the needs of all those battling substance abuse disorders can be met.

ABW also has the goal of increasing public awareness of the drug and alcohol epidemic in the community. By supporting and conducting nonpartisan research, educational and informational activities ABW is able to contribute to this goal. We also provide research and information to foundations and corporate giving programs about the needs of similar organizations in the recovery ecosystem that advocate for safe, affirming, temporary and recovery-oriented living environments for members of the community.
